If your apps haven’t been updated to run on macOS Catalina but you wish to enjoy the new features of Catalina, one solution is to install Catalina on the same Mac as Mojave, but in a different Volume. That way you can continue to operate in Mojave with Mojave-compatible apps when you need to, then reboot into Catalina to get used to the new OS. Not 100% sure, it seems the Windows 10 18xx version's ISO has issues. I only have 2 disc on hand, the very 1st release of Windows 10. And a 17xx version. Never really tried the 18xx version. Few members reported the 1809 version doesn't work. But some said 1803 can work, some said can not. So, I am not 100% sure what's the real limitation here.

With macOS Catalina, perhaps more significantly, Gatekeeper will also check non-quarantined apps and files for problems.
